I have always been a creature of contrasts: a very creative person with a structured mind. I began my career in plant science, but was always longing for creative outlets, whether an evening pottery class or silversmithing workshop. After completing my PhD in plant science, I realised I truly needed a career that would nurture my creative side as well as the logical part of my mind. Five years ago I enrolled in a series of high profile wedding planning courses, and found myself immediately hooked. Here was a career that was at once inspiring, creative, artistic, organisational and analytical. I knew it was where I wanted to be.
MY FAVOURITE PART OF THE PLANNING HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE FLORALS.I LOVE THE WAY THAT PETALS, TENDRILS AND FRONDS CAN CREATE MAGICAL, COLOURFUL, INDULGENT WORLDS.
At the same time, I also began styling elaborate photoshoots and wedding editorials, many of which have been published in international blogs and magazines. One of my favourite projects to date was a dress made of wisteria, which I designed and constructed. This photoshoot was a challenge, it was the first time I built the mechanics behind a flower installation. I was surprised at how natural it all felt and how quickly I could come up with a solution. I could feel the spark and pull of inspiration again, and knew I needed to train in floristry alongside my wedding planning.
I therefore started freelancing for a well-known florist about 3 years ago. I think I can safely say that I have found flowers and flowers have found me. Offering wedding styling and co-ordination alongside floral design and floristry perfectly combines the need for finessed, meticulous problem solving and creative flair. Suffice to say, I am deeply in love with my job!
MY STYLE CENTRES AROUND CONTRAST, TEXTURES, AND AN UNDERSTATED ELEGANCE. I’M ALL ABOUT “LESS IS MORE” AND I’M NOT AFRAID OF BREAKING THE RULES.
I will work closely with you to find your own personal definition of luxury, by creating layers of colour, texture and tone, juxtaposing elements that would not normally belong together and finding a way to make them sing –I’ll weave your personality through every fibre of your wedding.
